Any SL Mercedes owners?
 

While in Vegas over the last two weeks was bored driving around cruising with Excursion. Granted I needed it to tow the boat. But started thinking that needed a convertible for cruising. Stopped at a gas station and bought an auto trader on my way home. Thinking 560, always liked the styling of the R107 body, little late 70's and 80's ish but a classic non the less. Instead saw an R126 not far from the gas station.

Despite even working in a factory owned Mercedes store and being familiar with early 90's R126 bodies. Forgot how well these things are built and engineered. Seller was in their 70's and he owned 3 other Mercedes, too old for convertibles. So he wanted it gone. One senior adult owner and fully serviced by Mercedes dealer, in fact he over did servicing. Like needed AC recharge 3 months ago, so he replaced everything instead! New Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's at dealer as well. So I bought it............For a price I feel guilty that he excepted!!!! :D

So whom else has them?

I have a 04 SL500. I like the older ones, but I have found it cost an arm and a leg to maintain them. :)

I had an Emerald Green '95 500. I thought it was a great car. It only had about 30K miles when I sold it, but it never gave me any trouble. It was great on the highway, and was nice to cruise around town in. Enjoy!!

Chrome wheels with gold badges?

Even you would be impressed on what I paid (talked him down $5,800).

I'm cheap unless its a company vehicle (not me paying) I'll never buy new nice cars. I have a thing for lux European cars, I've owned 5 P-car 928's in the last two years alone, and thats outside of being a dealer. :D

For the money you cant beat a previous owned Mercedes, one of the few cars that don't become used! As a dealer even had up to 15 Rolls Royce's laying around in inventory. Put a high mileage well kept Roller beside a well serviced care for Mercedes. The Roller will show signs of its age, where the Merc will not!

Mine is 15 years old nearing 100K miles, hardly a nick on it, mint interior. Seats don't even look like they have been sat in. Thing I love, when you close a door, you can hear the precise almost airtight sound of security, you only get in a Mercedes. And its a freakin convertible.

No actually I removed the badges, however if I remember correctly, I believe that gold thing was just about going out of style in 95 (???) it had the factory wheels (they were ok) The only thing I did to it was install the clear marker lights.

The gold center still looks good. Maybe not in photo but in person they do. I even turned them the same on each wheel so they' ll be even when stopped. :cool-smiley-027:

I agree, the gold center caps look good on the chrome wheels. I assume Black top? Did you get the wind deflector? Makes a huge difference.

Even when stopped? Hope you don't ever turn, that might throw them off!
