Tow Vechicle for a Formula 382
I have seen or heard of guys towing this boat with everything from a 1/2 ton Chevy to an F-550. The professional trucker I hired for a short tow recommended an F-350 dually (diesel) at the minimum.
My F-250 (2wd small block gas) wasn't happy towing a short distance on flat roads. I estimate the boat weighs 14,000# or more loaded What are you guys using to tow?

First of all if you are towing over the trucks rating you will most likey will not have insurance coverage. Read your truck and boat policy. My boat insurance is very clear on this. I think a Ford F350 diesel or any dually diesel is the only way to go. The dually track so nice down the road. The diesels will get better mileage and will not struggle on the hills as much the gas engines. The V10 gas Ford and Dodge actually tow well but the mileage is really bad.

I have a 2002 382 and used a 2003 gas 3/4 SRW when I first bought the boat.....I was a sweaty mess after a 50 mile tow. Bought a F350 PSD Dually a few months later. Now I'm calm and relaxed after that same 50 mile tow. It's amazing how the new truck tracks straight even when an 18 wheeler blows by you on the highway (or I blow by him!!)

My first 382 I purchased from Arizona so I had to drive my 3/4Ton Dodge with Cummins from IN and back to pick it up. Towed OK. The insurance issue came up so I bought a new 1 Ton Dodge Dually. Night and Day difference.
