I was even thinking of going with a 2500 6.0 but after that last post I think i'll stay with my d-max.

I don't think you will see a diesel in a Suburban or Avalanche for a long time. Not something that GM has there eyes on now or the near future.

My 2002 AV2500 was a brute. I loved that truck.

But after now towing with a 1-ton dually; I'll take my PSD F-350 anyday.

the 08 suburban and yukon XL 2500 both come in 3/4ton models with the new 6 spd trans. I think they can tow up to 10,000 lbs. I just looked at one in IL...nice truck

He's right, no more 2500's after 2006. I have an '07 LTZ coming in if you are interested. Will sell it to you at just above wholesale. PM me if you want details.

Maybe this one will end up in the SUV's, I am not sure how long the lines will be when diesel just hit $3.49 gallon!!

Boomer- The 2500 Avalnache is no more. You can only get a used one. The 2500 in the Suburban is a 6.0 w/ 4.10 and will tow 10,000. The 8.1 was good for 12,000 in the Av's and Sub.'s .

The diesels are coming out in 2009/2010 in the SUV's for GM. Until then only used 8.1's (they are out there and w/ gas so high Cheap!), even Ford discontinued the Excursion.

I have an '05 2500 4X4 with the 8.1. It's a serious gas hog but does tow my 29 Outlaw pretty well. I love the truck and pretty much only use it for towing the boat and car trailer so the gas mileage doesn't bother me too much. Got a good deal on it too when they were doing the employee pricing thing.
