Popular Mechanics & Ford Chevy fuel economy
This months Popular Mechanics did a comparo of the Big three diesel pickup trucks. They claimed the Chevy got 18 MPG !!! , the Ford 11 & the Dodge 13. The weight and gearing difference is part of the reason. The Ford is a LOT heavier, and has lower gears, but that's a 40% difference. At today's fuel prices it would be hard to justify a Ford or Dodge. Does anyone get these numbers on their trucks?

They must have forgotten to release the parking brake on the Ford.
Funny, my F-250 PSD CC 4X4 gets about 15 city, 17-18 highway cruise. (Hand-calculated, not lie-o-meter).
Hell, my old V-10 truck got better than 11...

I just left MS on Monday, drove to FT Meyers to pick up my boat at 75-79mph. I averaged on the way down 15.2 mpg and that's with my F350 dually 6.0 litre with 4.10 gears. I was stock this time and no SCT programmer in. Just intake and dual exhaust, I wasn't going to take this stuff off. On the way back I pulled my Nor-Tech 4300 V, approx weight 13500 plus Myco Alum trailer at 65-74 mph, I averaged 10.2 mpg. I was very pleased. I also have a 06 Duramax and get about 1 to 1.5 better fuel milaege. The difference is though it has lower gears, 3.73.. Jeff
