Does America have weight and lenght restrictions for towing boats?

What is the maximum length the boat/truck can be?

Also, what is the maximum weight your boat/tralier can weigh?

most states have a 65' limit on length but you can buy an over length permit but most cops will not say anything. as for weight you are limited to the tire rating. On a big rig a single axel is allowed 20,000lbs for a single drive axle but if they are tandem then you are allowed 34,000. With a speedboat you would have a hard time getting over weight with an axel. But some states are cracking down (Texas) on overall weight of truck and boat going by the sticker in the door as to what you are allowed. Check with your local highway patrol office to see what your state has.

In florida if the boat and trailer weight more than 15,000lbs then the truck has to have a rating of 26,001 lbs. NOT 26,000

I'm getting a hard time in Australia over towing my Cigarette.

Our maximum tow length is 62ft, but here they enforce it. Also we CANNOT tow over 4.5 tonnes (9900lbs) without it becoming a heavy vehicle, and that means a trailer and truck like a semi.

I've just had my trailer butchered. the width of the trailer cannot be over 2.5 metres mine was 2.55, so i had to have the axels cut and re welded by 5 inches. I had the front of the trailer reduced by 2.5ft, had to replace the braking system with a new braking system, then the winch arm I had moved forward by 9 inches. All in all i think i've reduced the size from the hitch to the props by 3 ft.

this means my trailer from hitch to prop should be 41.5ft...from 44.5ft. that gives me just under 21ft for a tow vehicle..

My cig and trailer weigh 11000lbs, so i'm over but i'm going to try my luck till or if i get caught.

Pretty sht hey?

I'll post some pics soon as its all finished
