stretched headbolts on Superduty 6.0?
 

Anybody have this issue besides me?

I have an 06 F250 6.0 diesel that was starting to mildly smoke blue at idle and was burning quite a bit of coolant (which was causing the heater to quit, which was the first sign). I took it in to the dealer to look at it and they called me and said she'd be ready in about two weeks because the heads were being replaced. Fortunately its all under warranty still.. I guess the headbolts stretched out and allowed coolant in and blew the gaskets out and warped the heads..

The dealer said he'd seen quite a few with the same problems, about half of them with tuners and the other half not.

I have a 5" MBRP exhaust and an intake (cant remember the brandname).

I guess this was a very expensive warranty job. I went in today to drop off my other superduty to have the starter replaced and they had my cab, hood, fenders and most of the motor removed. What a HASSLE for them to have to do all that!

Anyone else with the same issues?? Ill post pics tommorow.

My electrition had his 06 done at 35k. Joe Cooper Ford did his here in Yukon OK gave him a loaner truck as well to drive while his was down.

ya, green country ford in vinita is doing mine, they gave me a mustang to drive but with this stupid snow i took it back and got an explorer.. blah

Happens more in the earlier motors- rare in the later one's. Ask them if they'll use studs in the replacement if you provide them- they should. That totally alleviates the possibility of it happening again.

Same exact deal Waterboy but dealer would'nt cover under warranty due to the tuner,chip, and exhaust mods .. We had it turned up to were we really should of reworked the heads
when we did the mods , but it ran like a raped ape and was worth it ,W'ed set the cruise at 100 -105 headed to havasu thru the mountains in albequrqe N M and pulled like you've never seen ...as soon as the dealer plugged it in it they erased the chip and there computer filled them in on what we did to hop it up .. now we leave em stock till the warranty is up... good luck :cool-smiley-011:

Same deal with my 05. My dealer said the head bolts are letting go more on the 05-06 then on the 03-04. He said those had a different set of issues, not that they didn't do it, just he fixed more 05-06 with head issues. Mine is chiped, was before and still is and after new heads she is still going strong. My dealer is great, he said he would do the studs, if i bought them, but he hadn't had any he fixed come back yet. He also said let him fix it his way, then if it does it again in the next 70,000 he will do the studs if I bring them in. As i said my dealer is great, his answer to the chip was the fact that he has stock ones doing it, he will fix mod ones as well, if it was an independant problem then i am not getting my warranty work done. That is fine with me as i know you play you pay, i just don't want to pay if a stocker is having the same problem. As for the cab coming off, the head diesel tech said he has it down to a sience now and it only takes him an hour to get off. Really can't fix the heads any other way.

edit: only took mine 4 days....They had two others in front of mine with the same problem.

Put in the ARP stud kit for this and do your homework, there is a much better headgasket. Buy them and take them to your dealer and have then use those parts. Otherwise look for the problem to come back.
