Chris Sunkin's worst nightmare

saw this on hwy 69 today and just had to get a picture.. the truck sounded like a 1970 GRAIN TRUCK screamin down the highway...

Maybe this is the guy that can deliver anysize boat anywhere in the U.S. for $1/mile.. When I passed him he looked white as a ghost and definately in over his head. I wonder how in the HOLY hell he got the thing up the ramp! (or back down it!)

It was a 4wd 4cyl toyota pickup.. 80's model.. you could hear the transmission screaming as you passed the third axle on the trailer, thats how loud it was..

3/4ton? That looks like a little ass nissan or something

waterboy222 02-27-2008 07:46 PM

i think he meant the truck weighs 3/4's of a ton.. hahaha.. we had one of those back in the day and tried to load an engine in the back of it and the tires were rubbing on the body. i think it has a payload of about 800 lbs (if that)

haulinvols 02-27-2008 08:20 PM

....yea but he is only going a couple miles down the road and that is ok right??? :angry-smiley-038::evilb::grinser010::D

Chris Sunkin 02-27-2008 08:31 PM

He should be OK. He's not going very far and he's being really careful. And, he doesn't do it very often.

My favorite part is the "WIDE LOAD" banner. My guess is he picked that up right after he pulled the oversize permit for the haul.

waterboy222 02-27-2008 08:33 PM

uh, negative.. he had texas plates on the truck and was in northeast oklahoma!

FROGMAN524 02-27-2008 10:13 PM

He probably stole it off of somebody elses load. What a moron. What hitch do you think he's using? Bumper or class 1?

waterboy222 02-27-2008 11:45 PM

i looked when i went by, it was a receiver style hitch, not attached to the bumper.. it had pretty neutral tongue weight. the boat was easily a 45' x 11 or 12 wide. my superduty woulda known it was back there, thats for sure..

Man we see that stuff all the time. I bet you would have more of a chance getting pulled over for not wearing your seatbelt than pulling something like that. If you see this again please call the state police and ask for the DOT officer on duty.

as exciting as it would be to see him get pulled over and gone through, theyd be more interested in me.. I pull hazmat small loads on a flatbed truck.. we are an easy target for DOT because they can see everything we have on board without having to move any other freight.. they use us to meet their quota.. so i avoid calling DOT and asking for the officer on duty.. makes my day so much smoother..

of course i guess i could call anonymous

You're right !! My first glance at it, I thought the truck was a 1500 or 2500 chevy shortbed, probably because of the tires sticking out the wheel well openings. Now that I looked again a little closer, it DOES look like a nissan or an izzu or some other little $hitbox.

What a menace to all the other traffic on the highways. :(

mr.boat 02-28-2008 01:19 AM

that truck should be used to block the tires. think he killed the zebras before launching?

mr.boat 02-28-2008 01:27 AM

Excuse me sir, do you have any fruits or vegetables?

LAKESIDE RESTORATIONS 02-28-2008 09:21 AM

I cant believe people get away with that! That is friggin way beyond "pushing" the limit!~

Sea-Dated 02-28-2008 11:07 AM

Scary..... Must of been heading to Arkansas.

That's definitely calling-the-cops-worthy. Though I can understand why you wouldn't want to. :D

There's pushing your limits, and then there's just plain old stupid. This is an example of just plain stupid.

Knot 4 Me 02-28-2008 11:51 AM

How he ever got the whole train rolling in the first place is beyond me...

TexomaPowerboater 02-28-2008 11:57 AM

Thats hillarious. That truck is not even a 1/2 ton.

wannabe 02-28-2008 12:40 PM

That looks like an older 36 foot cabin cruiser that's gotta weigh at least 15,000 lbs OR MORE.

I bet the Toyota had a six banger, now a NO BANGER cause it blew up.

Wannabe

phragle 02-28-2008 01:14 PM

towing a big load with a little truck is perfectly normal and acceptable...in MEXICO!

Cash Bar 02-28-2008 07:48 PM

Sydwayz would be perfectly happy towing that as it was fully strapped down and I'm sure the driver had on his lanyard.

Joe92GT 02-28-2008 08:00 PM

at least it was a 3 axle trailer!

pookie 02-28-2008 08:22 PM

I have restored a few Willys so I have a mechanics manual for 1948. There are charts for towing up to 40,000 pounds. It is primarily intended for slow towing on farms with no tongue weight (hay racks) but the motors are 63 hp 131c.i.

As long as he's got airbags, he's all good. :evilb:
