bleeding surge brakes

I installed a new wheel cylinder on my three axle trailer, how do I go about bleeding the air out?

you can try gravity bleeding, but ive had great luck using a ''miti-vac'' vacum bleeder system, its a small hand pump and a cup and 2 plastic hoses, hook 1 th the bledder screw,1 to the pump and 2 other ends the cup, pump the hand pump and open the bledder ,do this 2-3 times and your done

I have found it best to take off the emergency break away lever and pump it from there with a pry bar. Takes two people however.....

if you have another too help.. I have done them before by pushing on the ball hitch by hand, also have used a lawn tractor or 4 wheeler to do it also.. but it takes 2 people for sure..

1 Person bleeding. Put a legth of clear vinyl hose over the bleeder screw into a clear bottle (I use a 16oz. pepsi bottle) half full of brake fluid and pump away.

I've completely changed the fluid in 2 trucks, my corvette, my Corolla, and the trailer this way.
works like a charm.
You'll use some brake fluid this way because once you have some contaminated fluid in the bottle you toss it, but it's cheap.

hint: use synthetic or a synthetic blend brake fluid. Higher boiling point and doesn't attract moisture like conventional.

Does the cap on your reservior have a plug in the top? If it does, you can remove the plug and there should be a small nipple fitting there. You can use a compressor and air nozzle to apply steady pressure to the system through the fitting.

This is a 2-person job and you need to make sure the fluid level is maintained in the reservior, or you will have to start all over.

Always bleed the system starting from the furthest point away from the reservior and work toward it.
