Goosecam!

Check it out. Here is the bumper cam and the goose cam. No more yelling at the wife about what the definition of the center is! I put in touchscreen navigation, 6 disk changer, lux upgrade, ipod interface and dual backup cameras.

How you switch between the two cameras?

I used the pac-audio video interface. I had to take the nav unit apart and change the ribbon cable as the gmt 800 platform does not allow for a video cam where the new trucks nav system does. Video input 2 overides video input 1 when power is applied to the green wire input. I had to run two switches instead of one since I have both of them on the reverse lights. So, normally when I hit reverse, it automatically goes to the ball cam everytime. To go to the goose cam, I hit the switch to go to cam 1 and then hit the second micro to chop power to video 2. Works like a charm. I could have done 2 more relays. and had it where one switch will switch from cam 2 to cam 1 and chop power on video 2.....but it was about 2 in the morning and I was trying to finish it so I could put the dash back in so that I could go to work the next day. There was alot of labor in this install as I had to repin the amp connectors to go to the lux amp and all the crap to hook the changer up....and cut the console out. If you want, I can send you the schematic to wire it that way. I know it took me longer as I have not done any stereo work in 15 years......but I was getting the hang of it toward the end. I also built a new system behind glass in the boat this year that turned out good too.

I had to epoxy the goose cam to the 98gal aux tank.....and there was no real good way to run the wire on it......but it does not look to bad unless you get to staring at it. The ideal set up would be one integrated into the 3rd brake light. I did not think about that until I had it installed. But I will probably go back and do that......but I don't know if the view to the ball will be as good because of the tank.

What year is your truck? I'm interested in the touch screen nav upgrade and ipod hookup. Not sure it will work in my 2007 though.

John

That turned out pretty trick!

For a better appearance on the camera in the bed...

Go to Home Depot/Lowes, and get some Panduit. I think they even make it in black, but you may have to settle for white and paint it. It will hide the wires and make a much more eye pleasing install.

2007 GMC Classic. Remember, If you do a Lux headunit, you MUST change to the lux amp and re-pin the connectors or it will not work and burn up your chit.

Here is the new stereo I did in the boat. I had the amps......made everything else. The flash kind of messed it up. Looks better in person. I also have the alpine ipod controller mounted underneath in the cabinet.....no more skipping CD's!

I see that Wilson county tag! I am in Nashville and just bought the non-LUX unit for my 2006 Sierra 2500. I was thinking about doing the same thing with the back up cams. Would you mind sending me that wiring diagram with where you scored those backup cams?

By the Way - I like the Rolex

thunderusone 05-01-2008 12:26 PM

www.hitchcam.com You can find them cheaper than listed on thier site. I got mine through jp customs......but I can't say that I would do that again. You have to have the Pac-Audio video interface to make it work. PM me your email and I will send you the poop on how to make two cams work with one switch. Get the interface first.....then then we will go through the instructions......trust me....it will make a lot more sense!

Are you living in Nashville now? Where do you guys boat living in Columbia......Bogata.....just kidding.

Bikini Removal Agent 05-01-2008 04:35 PM

I am in Nashville almost always, my clothes and toothbrush #1 :D live in Columbia. We do the Priest thing, occasionally go to Old Hickory, have a place on Wilson in Florence Ala., Kentucky Lake/TN River(above and below the I-40 bridge) . I don't think I could outrun those helicopters that patrol the Keys 2 Cuba waters, or the 50 cal. Brownings inside them.
