Hitch. Greese or no greese on ball?

5th wheels are greased because they bear a much heavier load. On a ball, tongue weight is about 10& of the total trailer weight. On a 5th wheel, it can be 50%
For me, no grease on the ball. I'd rather replace a ball than deal with grease all over everything. I have enough problems with the dents in my shins from whacking into it already- grease would add insult to injury.

A little bit goes a long way.
I put just a very small amount on the top of the ball when I'm hooking up and I clean it off completely on the ball and in the coupler when I disconnect.
No question that it will prolong the life of the ball and coupler.
