Need transport price

I need a price to pull or haul a 28' boat on a triple axle trailer, 4500 pound boat and 2500 pound trailer from Las Vegas, NV to Lake Norman, NC. Must provide cargo insurance cert in amount of $100,000.00 minimum. PM me the quote.

The prices I've been seeing are in the $2.25 to $2.50 per mile range. That sucks since I can move 45,000 lbs of cargo and take a whole semi load for under $2.00 a mile.

Is the price still around the $2.25-.50/mi for just hauling a trailer, no boat?

Chris Sunkin 06-05-2008 06:24 AM

The hauler doesn't care what's back there. It's time and expenses. Now, if he could get 3 trailers back there, each would cost a third.

Looks like a road trip for me then.

If it's just an empty trailer, and you are flexable on time, ask if anyone is going that way with an empty hitch, and it might work out for you. I've both helped and been helped that way.

I was bidding on a boat on ebay and trying to get a feel for how much to add for getting it home. The guy kept lowering the price so I hit the buy it now. His terms were come try it and if it's not what I say you don't have to pay for it within 7 days from end of sale. After hitting the buy it now, I started making flight arrangements to go try it out. The guy sent me 2 emails immediately after I was notified that I was the winner. I didn't get around to answering him for about 2 hours after the end of the sale. When I called him, he said since I didn't respond to his email immediately, that another buyer had arrived in person and he sold it to them. I told him he needed to live up to his terms of the advertisement for the sale. He said the other party was actually out trying it out at that time and he would try to cancel the deal with them. He called back in a couple hours and said when they were examining the documents (he had traded a truck for the boat), that the other party pointed out there was a lien on the title. He said he checked and there was a lien for $52,000 more than he was asking for the boat and he was taking boat back to get his truck back. When he got to where his truck was suppose to be, the guy had given him a bogus address, so he's out a truck that was paid for and has a boat with a big lien on it. He's now trying to sell the boat and trailer with a bill of sale for cash. He also said the police would not let him file that the truck was stolen as he had given the guy the keys and when he called his insurance they told him too bad. I wonder if any of it is true.

Sounds like he sold it out from under you.

$ per mile is about right. We just went to Lake Cumberland with an empty trailer and back with a different empty trailer. From MD it was around $600-700 in just fuel alone.
