Winch stand....

Does anyone know where I can find a winch stand that will bolt on to my trailer?

I am looking for the kind of stand that has 2 small bunks shaped like a V that the bow sits up against.

I was looking at the Myco setups and it's something like that.

The problem with my trailer is it has just a single square channel stand and I don't think it is strong enough for the weight of my boat.

I am looking for something sturdier than what I have now.

Load Master Trailers of OHIO has a unit that is adjustable that they sell ala carte. The bow support and winch stand are separate units. You will have to dig a bit here or on Google to find their website.

There are two Load Master trailer companies. One in Ohio and one in Florida.

Have a local welding company make you something. I've never seen one substantial enough- even from Myco. The one on my tyrailer will not allow the boat to budge. If I really F-up one day and rear-end someone, the last thing I need is a 14,000 boat rammed up my a$$.

I fabricated mine out of 2.5" x 3" 3/8" wall box tube. It's welded to the main draw tube on the trailer with a reinforcement plate underneath it.

Here are a few pictures of one that I made for Magnum Marks Apache. Maybe you can get some ideas from this...

Thanks for the compliment. I never kept track of the cost and time. Unfortunately, it would be cost prohibitive to reproduce. I hope that the pictures were helpfull and that you might get some ideas from them.

Surprised nobody recommended McClain http://www.mcclaintrailers.com/
They're in Houston and have some shops in LA. They might be able to hook you up nice.

Manning has been known to sell their bow stop seperately. http://www.manningmarine.com/

I've talked with Loadmaster-FL before: http://www.loadmastertrailer.com/
They've got a couple different items that might work. Their web site/parts list doesn't show everything, but they might have something that will work.

Not too long ago I saw an All-American Trailers that had a nice bow catcher on it. The real nice thing I liked is that it had the amber colored pads that seem to be the best at non-marking. They might be willing to fab/ship for you. http://www.allamericantrailermfg.com/

I've got your standard, run of the mill winch mount/bow roller. Those roller mounting arms bend easily when you're loading the boat a little crooked and try to correct while still on the roller.

Anybody have trouble w/ the myco setup? Looks like if you got on a steep ramp or backed in too far the winch would hit bow.

My 42ft Fountain DOES IT ALL THE TIME......

I am not the one that catches it coming on the trailer,But there is a few marks in the rub rail were it could of touched ,it has never hit the hull, Also while winching it up the handle will hit the rub rail insert lightly. I also added 3/8 alum spacer to the rubber in the v block trying to make it fit better.I am also the type person that likes polishing the alum on the trailer:rolleyes::D

Nice job Roger. That gives me some ideas for improvments for my Myco. My boat doen't hit the winch, but on a steep ramp I have keep winching to slide my hull up the front blocks a few inches or else when I pull out and am on flat ground the bow will be a few inches from the bow stop.

Thanks Mark;

That's why I extended it out there like I did. I did'nt want Mark to have problems with it on the ramp and me down here in kankakee wondering why my ears felt like they were on fire....................:D

Roger

I made one very similar to yours and it works awesome, except: The wind cought the boat right before it was going in the bow stop and that metal edge gave me a reminder in my boat. I am now working on a protector on the outside of the metal just in case it should happend again. I will also add some side support (towards the rear of the boat and middle of boat) for easier docking when I am by myself. As soon as I have it painted I will post some pictures...
