Wrong!! What is wrong w/ retail???
That is like saying - McDonalds should raise burger prices over their retail @ lunch & dinner because the demand is high.
Sorry, but that idea is wrong.
Will that dealer that was greedy give you more when you trade it in? Nope.
You can find Challengers on lots ready to go. When the 2005 Mustang came out (dealers were greedy then too) you couldn't find a Mustang on a dealers lots for months.
By charging over retail, dealers screw themselves AND the mfg. When Ford brought out the GT, dealer greed set in and they wanted $20K - $50K over retail. Well the cars didn't sell well. So they slowed and then stopped production because demand wasn't there. Demand wasn't there because the dealers inflated the price so much, no one with a brain would buy one.
Look @ Challengers right now. Dealers are doing same thing and they have cars ready to drive off right now. Yes the economy is playing a big part, even more reason to not be greedy.
Put them at retail and the inventory will move.

I agree, and even at retail that is fair for getting the first one on your block....Hell BMW, Mercedes sell at sticker or use to.

And yes, I agree with you 100%, the prices will come down in a few months or less, but for those who need to have one YESTERDAY, they must pay what the market will bear.

I'm not the franchised dealer my friend, so I don't set the prices. I'm only a broker filling someone's order.
