2007+ Dodge 3500 hitch

Owners of 2007 up Dodge 3500's what have you found to upgrade your hitch?

never enuff 08-07-2008 05:13 PM

Putman seems to be a named mentioned alot. Their class V hitch is suppose to be one of the best.

Putnam XDR or Reese Titan-V

Hot Knots 08-07-2008 05:51 PM

Ok which is it, Putman or Putnam?? How can I Google if it ain't spelled right? Got a link?

Thanks for this thread, it prompted me to lay my old body down(as I would look in a coffin) and see how my hitch is rigged. Looks pretty solid, triple through-bolted to the frame on both ends. I'll see what the hitch-makers have to replace it but I haven't towed over 7000 with it yet so I'm not sure I need to upgrade just yet.

I've had them on my last three trucks and am quite happy with them.

boatman22 08-07-2008 06:13 PM

Putnam XDR and Reese Titan-V do not make them for the 2007 up 3500 Dodge trucks. That's why I was asking what other owners are using. Sorry i should have clarified.

Tom,
Get a smaller boat :ernaehrung004:
Jay

I posted a thread on TDR--I'll check for responses in a little while.

Sydwayz 08-07-2008 07:00 PM

I did not realize they don't make them.

I don't have experience with Curt Hitches, but check them out too:

I think there is another company called Harris, or something too; but its more custom mom & pop type stuff.

I went to a hitch place today that said the have a 14000lb Curt that will fit....NOT...... they wanted to bolt it to the OEM and let it hang low...I'll try Harris tomorrow and see what they have....keep the suggestion coming ...

Tom,
The only name I got from TDR was "Torklift Superhitch Magnum". There were a few comments saying that the Class V hitchs were not industry standardized and other sizes might carry the load you have????????
Jay
Hope you like "your" new props :ernaehrung004:

Tom,
I found these Reese Titan (Towboss) and Putnam 25211. Valley has one VA82792 Take a look at these.

Bump this one to the top. I got an 08 dodge 3500. What will work? In my opinion the putnam looks to be the best option, but I am not sure if it will fit. Boatman I sent you a Pm

boatman22 02-18-2009 03:33 PM

Baywatch, I got your PM...I have never found anything that will fit. XDR makes one for the MegaCab but not the Quad Cab

baywatch 02-18-2009 03:42 PM

Bummer.

Wideopen30 02-18-2009 06:38 PM

The Hitch Should Be The Same For The Mega, Quad, And Reg Cab. I Will Check Tomorrow With My Parts Guy. I Have An 08 Mega Cab And Was Thinking About Upgrading Too But Have Not Looked Into It Yet.

I just spoke with Weaver distributing and they said that Putnam Hasn't updated to 08 on the XDR. The Guy did tell me he knows of couple customers that have used them on 07+'s, but there was some "Torching" Required to make them work.

They do have Cequent Titan model 45295 which is rated @ 18,000 (can only get a 15,000 draw bar for it though) here is a link from an online shop http://www.etrailer.com/pc-H~DT45295...eid=2008203632

This might be the route that I have to go. Says I have to remove the bumper for install. Yipppeee

I hear ya!!! Weaver gave me a price of $350, however my zip code gets free shipping from etrailer.com so I am better off to go with them. I am going to look underneath a buddies 2006 this afternoon and see what the hang up/torching would be with the xdr. I'll keep ya posted.

Looks good!!! Mine showed up today via the UPS man as well. He was grunting and groaning as he pulled it off of his truck. It is a big MOFO

That is a good price!!!

Mine ended up being $389 for hitch, ball mount, Ball, and Reducer sleeve. I got a buddy that is going to have a couple of his employees install it for me on Friday. I'm sure that will cost me at least a good steak dinner with some drinks LOL..

I was about ready to give up on the search as well. I actually just got an Email from Curt hitches today stating that they have a new 15,000 hitch that will work on the dodge as well, but I am glad I got the big boy...

Happy towing to you as well!!!
