Looking for a truck recommendation...
What truck would you recommend for a 42 Fountain / Myco triple aluminum trailer - conventional towing 15,000 LBS total weight. Is a 1 ton legally overloaded or do I need to step up to a F650 or M2?

Properly equipped new F-350 will do it.
An F-450 will absolutely do it. An F-650, Sport Chassis, or other medium duty would be cat's ass. They are all over eBay. |
in texas now the door sticker has to have a weight large enough for the truck and boat which would put a one ton out of the market. A four door freightliner or 4 door peterbilt would tow the best but they are not cheap

i tow a cig 35 about 14000 with gas and trailer with a 550 ford and it awsome and legal . do it with a 1 ton and have a accident, even someone elses fault and kiss your boat and possibly your house goodby. the ford could be for sale as i have my eye on a freightliner. call me 847 514 9162 for details on the truck

An F350 DRW will legally tow 15K with a conventional hitch but I bet you are over that with a load of gas.
You might also look into weather or not you need a CDL with one of those heavy trucks. FYI A Pro boat hauler I know took an F550 and put an F350 bed on it so it would not be obvious that he was a commercial operator |

most one tons have a sticker showing a gvwr of about 17000lbs combined, now a normal one ton diesel dually is about 7500lbs so putting a top gun behind you and you are leagally over

I just weighed my F350. It was almost 9000#. The weight rating you are looking for is the GCVR (Gross combined) It's not on my door. Ford says 15K with conventional load dist hitch.

ok rjr so if our truck is 9000 and you put a top gun behind you you would be over in florida, texas, and oklahoma. to name a few
