38ft and bigger, what trailer are you using?

just wondering what brand trailer's you guy's are using on the bigger boats?

thinking about buying a new one, i know most people say Myco is the best but there are other's, in my area it is either Myco or Eagle.

do you like it?
what if anything would you change if you could swap it for something different?

phragle 09-23-2008 06:54 PM

ask wahoo what he has..then make sure you dont get that one... cause the wheels fall off

Smitty 09-23-2008 07:49 PM

I've got a steel Heritage triple with six wheel disc brakes. I had an Eagle and I like this better.

KrystalTransport 09-23-2008 07:57 PM

the eagles that I have friends with all rust out real bad. Myco is the only way to go

Fastload Trailers - Of Course From Florida

Less Than $9000 Delivered - 18,000 LB
Disc brakes on 2-axles
16" 8-lug wheels - same as MYCO
Spare rim/tire

Minor Complaints
- Trailer Jack Does Not Have Enough Travel
- Better Supported Bow Stop Would Be Nice

TxHawk 09-23-2008 08:10 PM

Mine is on a Fastload Aluminum. It came with the boat. It pulls perfect. It loads a lot better after adding longer foward bunks. Trailer says it has an 18k lb load capacity. My boat on the trailer weights 12,000-12,500 depending on load.

I have had several Myco trailers and all have performed flawlessly. We currently have a painted aluminum Myco under our 39 Top Gun. There are two options that I would suggest for anybody using a trailer for more than just a few miles a year. They are electric over hydraulic brakes on all axles and a swing drive guard. I am sure that many will not agree with the drive guard, but it could save your boat and save a life! You'll just have to trust me on this one! :p

Look at Integrity trailers made here in west michigan, I have pulled some of them to florida and they pull just as nice as my Myco.

Hard to beat a Myco.

I'm on my third and have trialered a total of over 80K miles with the three combined without a single flat tire or any failure.

They are built with a nice service factor, 16 inch load range "E" tires and simply very well engineered. They are not cheap but when you can head out on a 2500 mile round trip and not have a single issue it is worth it.

Do yourself a favor also and but electric over hydraulic brakes. You will be very glad you did.

A good friend did the same trip we did with a larger boat on 15 inch tires and he had two blow outs and the second one took out the fender and his brake lines. It was an aluminum bolt together trailer.

If you are serious about trailering and will be covering some miles don't buy on price.

I have a 382 Fastech sitting on a Manning steel trailer w/electric/hyd brakes on all three axles, which by the way I think is required by law. I could not be happier with it, we have towed many good safe miles.

Beak Boater 09-24-2008 04:31 PM

Have had 3 Myco's and one Eagle, Myco hands down. Have had a 38 Fountain on an Aluminum Myco and a 38 Fountain on a steel Myco. Aluminum is great if you boat in salt/brackish water. I like the steel for towing long distances. Not as much flex. Electric/hyd. brakes on at least 2 axles are a must.

Myco. I have my 47 fountain on a tandem dually Myco. It looks and tows great. Parked it next to a 47 manning which looked cheesey in comparison.

sleek1 10-02-2008 11:08 PM

If I was to buy one tomorrow I'd buy a McClain.
