2008 Suburban Project

Since the 450 was put on hold while waiting on parts (see other thread), we decided to get to work on my wife's Suburban. All of her parts have been here in the garage for several months, so I guess it's finally time that she got her stuff done. Fair is fair, right?
Compared to the 450, this one was easy. We installed a 6" kit from Superlift and added 35x 12.50 Toyo mud terrains on 18" Moto Metal wheels. We then installed a pair of the Amp Research running boards, new air box, a Magnaflow exhaust and then re-programmed it with a box from Superchips to straighten out everything thrown off by the larger tires. Simple and straight forward. Call it done. To our surprise, the truck rides better than stock. The Toyos are extremely quiet on the highway and the steps make it easy to get in and out. It is a nice, simple package, but I really like the way it came out and my wife loves it!!! :) |

Nice looking rig. My wife would love to do that to her Suburban.

Great looking Burb.:cool-smiley-027:

Looks great. We just did an 08 Burb. 6" BDS kit. Had to do a BUNCH of trimming. Even with 5.5"backspacing. It looks like yours has even less back spacing. How much did you have to trim???

Considering these trucks are pretty smooth driving already, thats impressive it rides even better then stock. Looks great.

I installed a 6"kit in my wife this evening as well.....what a coincidence.

Another difference in the amount of trimming needed may be in the tires. The tires we used are 35" Toyos, but the actual height is only 34" when mounted. This might make a little difference as well. Like they say, every inch counts! :p It would still be nice if Chevy would open up their wheel wells and make them round again. As you well know, it would make it much easier to fit larger tires. When it stops raining I'll see if I can get a few pics of the trimming we had to do on the front and get them posted.
