The best bang for the buck would be
BUY A GMC!! |
I'm really not sure of the best package for the 7.3's, they are stong motors but have heard they take $$$ to build allot of power. You might try searching on "thedieselgarage.com" they have a 7.3 truck forum and 7.3 chip and tuner forum.. I'm sure other guys will chime in- - you should be able to get the 7.3 where you want it with the right parts

Also check out thedieselstop.com - that is an entire website dedicated to the powerstroke and it has a TON of info on it. |

Look www.lightning-motorsports.com They are outside of Tampa. Both owners, Mark and Tom have 7.3L trucks and know a thing or two about them. Mark and Tom are both boat owners and OSO members, and I don't do anything to my truck(s) without running it through them. I also buy almost everything through them. My suggestions: Get rid of the K&N Filter/FIPK. It is the WORST setup for the 7.3PSD. There are MANY, MANY whore stories about this setup on www.thedieselstop.com . They do NOT filter well enough for the 7.3L PSD. I run www.truflow.com on my 7.3L PSD. What is your rear end ratio? 3.73 or 4.10? If it is a 3.73, swap it out to the 4.10. You will see a significant difference. Get a big ass exhaust from the turbo back. I am happy with my MBRP system. An engine is a giant air pump. If you want to pump more air into it, you have to be able to pump more air out of it. Dump the Bullydog switch, and get a DP Tuner. I too run the Bullydog, but I know the DP is much better. www.dp-tuner.com is the only one that you can order "ala carte" with the exact options on it that you want. Last step is beginning to get into the motor involving bigger injectors and a bigger turbo. These are not trivial, and need to be done right. They also may accelerate a rebuild time on your engine due to how much power they are pushing through the motor. Be prepared for headgaskets first, and maybe more.
