Gear Vendors Overdrive

Has anyone tried out a gear vendors overdrive on a truck. I am looking into one right now. It is a bolt on unit, the driveline has to be shortened and reinstalled. The unit can be installed on a standard or auto trani.

It gives you a gear in between each of your factory gears which makes it tow much better, but most importantly it gives you one more gear on top. I think it reduces RPM in your high gear by 22%. On a diesel, you should get 55 mph fuel comsumption at 70-73 mph range.

Cost of the unit is just under 3k without install.

Has anyone used one on a late model dually?

Wes,

A friend of mone tried one a couple of years ago and wasn't satisfied with it,,said the problem was the gears were real comfortable until he dropped into high gear and the torque loss when shifting into high gear was substancial, his complaint was that the motor was out of the powerband except at 80 plus. It didn't work like a splitter in a semi/dump truck.

They work. GM used them on the Callaway Corvettes. The key is to have a tall gear in the rear end otherwise you lug the engine.
