Default How much toungue weight?

I tow from time to time a 47 Fountain with a 2002 GMC Duramax crew cab dually 8ft. bed. The boat and trailer is about 16.000 lbs. with fuel in the tanks.

I have read that it is reccomended to have approx. 10% tounge weight. That means 1600 lbs. This is over what my truck is rated for. Speaking of EXPERIENCE, what would you say about tounge weight? Would the rig be better to run by exceeding the 1600, or is this perfect or would it be better with less? The rear suspension is STIFF as hell.. I am considdering taking the front axle on the trailer and put behind the rear to get a lot of T W.I guess this would make it more stable on the road too? The trailer is a Continental and rated for the weightm but maybe for a boat that is not THAT tail heavy..? But then the flex would increase on the alu I-beam frame of the trailer... Many things to think about here!! I want it to be as safe as possible.

Anything else that is important ? Am am making a new winch stand as the original one iss a piece of ****. The nose of the Fountain hit the winch stan before the boat is loaded. I am going to make one stand for the boat (low), and one for the winch itself. The bunks fits fine under the front keel and under the strakes at the rear.
