2000 Chevy Dually vs. 2009 F150?

I am wanting a tow vehicle and the tow guides show the 2000 Crew Cab duall 454 at 10000 lbs and the new F150 at 11300 lbs is that true? I have about a 12000 lb set up so I would be over the rating of that dually by 2000 lbs?? What are your thoughts on towing with an older dually.

Thanks!

Much better off with the Chevy, my last job had a fleet of 04-07 f250's with the 5.4s and they wouldn't pull a sick whore out of bed. My 01 chevy 5.3 had way more power. Now I have a 03 SS with the 6.0 and love that truck.

So I cant legally pull with either truck?

DareDevil 03-12-2009 02:21 PM

No ,,i just think its not legal with the older 1 ton ,,but i would not pull it with a 150 ,,thats for shure.

Also i think it has to do with the engine size . A 1 ton diesel should have a bigger tow rating.

Hell i pull 15000 with my 3/4 ton suburan dually !!!!

Never had a problem and i only have a 350 Vortec.

Thats how I feel I cant see pulling regularly with a 1/2 ton!

That single rear wheel might pull it.......but can it STOP it?

try to get a diesel in what ever you buy. sure a gas motor can pull it, but they struggle the whole way!

hey...
i think at 12K a diesel, dually, goose-neck might be the only route? nfw can a new f150 handle that weight...
don't be too crazy, or we'll all get screwed down the road on our insurance..(whoa! i sound like a union-type-guy...):D

I wouldn't even try it with the 1/2 ton. My 07 psd crew cab 4x4 pulls my 311 very good. I might trade this weekend for a new truck maybe you would be interested in my trade?
