Looks really good. I am in the process of researching Excursions a little bit, as I need a new truck. I know practically zero about Fords since I have been a GM guy all my life. The Excursion however fits a very practical bill, especially when you have something heavy to tow. One better, there are quite a few out there and they seem to be priced reasonably.

In '05 did they have the 6.0 or the 7.3?

boatntrkr 04-18-2009 06:50 PM

later 03 to 07 is 6.0
93 to early 03 is the 7.3

?? Excursion started production in 99/00

05 was the last year they were built.

Saaaweet truck. I'd love to have an 2003 7.3 retro-modded with the 2005 coil-springs front end. PERFECT truck IMHO.

yea, sorry, I meant the F series....but Im pretty sure the excersions went along the same engine timeline as far as the transition from 7.3 to 6.0..

tony stamis, have you had any problems with coolant coming out of the reserve tank near the firewall? AKA puking?

Quicksilver 04-20-2009 09:18 AM

Still can't believe GM won't offer the diesel for the Suburban, the new trucks are so nice and comfy but they've made them pussified mommy mobiles. Can do a Duramax swap but it will cost you an arm and leg when all is said and done.

Good looking truck.

Great looking Ex, were are you rubbing? Those look like some wide 35's, and I am guessing you are rubbing on the leaf springs.

Be careful on the airbags for the excursions, the ones that get called out usually are the in-board ones, and not as heavy duty as the outboard ones for the superduty's. I am pretty sure you can make the superduty ones work. I am currently trying this on our 02 Ex.

Speaking off..... If anyone out there has an Ex set-up similarly to Tony's that they want to sell, give me a shout as I may be of interest. Thx.

the tires are 35x 13.50 the truck came with a 5.5 inch lift kit i took it off and installed x code springs the tires rub a little i will probably go one size smaller with the tires i am just waiting to get everything finished up . no issues with the motor no puking antifreeze but the truck only has 46K on it.
thanks tony
