Looking at an 08 f-450

I found an 08 F 450 dually super duty crew cab full bed with 19.5 polished wheels. no nav or camera or dvd.
41k miles burgundy
looks real clean.
they are asking $31k
kelly blue book doesnt go into the dually's much so what it this truck worth and is the price where it should be.
also what is the factory warranty on the twin turbos?

Catmando 05-04-2009 11:17 PM

I checked NADA and Edmunds but they only go to the F350. Clean retail NADA is $33,675. This is the XLT, nothing fancy. Sounds like the F450 is a good deal. Call your local dealer for the turbo warranty.

I wish I had a backup camera on my dually but you what I saved a lot of money when I bought a pair of magnetic poles from my local RV dealer for $15. Helluva deal right there. :)

nomomoney 05-05-2009 07:05 AM

Sounds like a great deal. You need to find out what rear end it has. They come with 4:88 and 4:30. You don't want the 4:88. Mine has the 4:30's and it pulls great with decent fuel milage. 13 hwy and 10 pulling the boat.

never satisfied1 05-05-2009 07:38 AM

it has the 4.30. i wonder if i can extend the warranty through a local dealer

duke252 05-05-2009 08:30 AM

I'd say its priced right. I just bought an 08 w/ 30K for $30K. Although it was repo out of PA.

I saw you mention that the wheels are polished. For some reason I can't get the wheels to polish correctly on my truck. Does anyone know if the 08 F450's came with a satin finished wheel or a clear coat? There has to be some reason why I can't get the wheels to polish up clean w/ the std Alum wax.

Try Mothers Aluminum Polish If They Are The 19.5" Wheels. And Never Dull Polish For The Chrome Center Caps.

Mother's works good...but try our Metal Serum..follow directions on bottle and they should look like mirrors. If you have any Q's, just give me a call..Good Luck Jeff

sounds like a deal to me also...i was looking at an 07 550 4x4 lariat powerstroke with the same miles for 31k.

Roger 05-05-2009 06:36 PM

WHY???? Buy a Chevy or Dodge. 450's get awful fuel milage and they are worth NOTHING. Mine has less than 10,000 miles and it will not bring a bid at the auctions. You can probably buy a NEW one for that much since they will not sell.

mcraymond3 05-05-2009 07:42 PM

450 is a good truck. Roger, I will give you a bid on your truck, especially if you think it is worth "Nothing." Send info to my email:
[email protected]

Since Chrysler is in bankruptcy, banks don't want to finance them. Sounds like a good deal to me. Yes, you can get an extended warranty up to 200,000 miles. Let me know if you need a price on that warranty.

Roger..we also have a 08 GMC Duramax..they have their problems as well. get about 1 more mpg more than the Fords..but can't pull the same load as confidently..and Im a GM man...you should have got a F350 with the 450 front end like I did with the tight turning radius. The two we have...have 24760 miles mine and my carpenters is 54___ something..they both were got in aug of 07.. mine has the 3.73 gears and his has the 4.10's. about 1.5 mpg difference on identicle trucks. The 450 is a purpose built truck..its made for one thing and it does it well..but is way different and cumbersome as a daily driver than the 350.. Good Luck selling it...Raymond is a fair guy..give him a shot.

The wheels aren't shining because the former owner had the tires rotated. The finish on the inside of the rear wheels is more satin than shiny like on the front. Mine are the same way. On one of the Diesel forums I read that you do not put the rears up front on this truck, unless you want to break down the wheels and tires for a rotation.

As far as the deal is concerned, that is a great price!!! Is the truck two or four wheel drive? If that is for a four wheel drive Lariat you are definately getting a killer deal.

yes it is a 4x4 shift on the fly. as far as i know.
im going to call there today

Croozin2 05-07-2009 08:18 AM

I just bought an '08 450 4X4 Lariat 19.5's and the whole ball of wax with 33K miles for $34.5K. Truck is spotless. No nav or back up camera, does have DVD. 4.30 gear and it runs and pulls like a dream. Has already had the radiator replaced and a good friend of mine is the division service rep for Ford so I do have an inside source for repairs etc.

To this point, I am thoroughly satisfied although I have only owned it a short period of time. Getting high 12 low 13 mpg avg. 9 - 10 towing. I have always been a GM guy but this truck has impressed me so far.

I agree about the 450 being great for towing heavy loads, but I drive mine everywhere I drive my car, including covered city lots because it is so maneuverable with the commercial front end.
