I have to disagree with some statements that have been made on here.

First lets address the seal issue, little trailers like we all pull have regular lip style seals, there is a sealing lip and a wiper lip on them. These seals are made to let things leak out - they are not unitized seals like on a big truck that do not pass anything and can only be used 1 time. Normally for running down the road the trailer hubs like we have on our boat trailers have a "sealed" metal hab cap, grease cap or whatever you choose to call it on it. When you generate heat in the hub the air expands and where does it go?? Out past the seal, they are designed to allow this to happen.

If the seal is being pushed out of the hub you have a fit problem not too much grease, you should not be able to hydraulically push a seal out of a hub, the seal should always leak first.

With that said, a little grease going by them will not ruin the seal, also you can take these hubs on and off and not replace the seal - correct (don't give me, you shouldn't do it) it's done in repair shops everyday all over the world! So, if that does not damage the seal how could some grease pushing out damage the seal?

Next, what caused water to get into your hubs? Warm hubs backing into cooler water makes the air in the hub contract and with that the hub wants to draw in more air but there is none so it sucks in water. The less grease in the hub the more water will suck in. The water can only come from 2 spots the caps or the seals, if you have water one of those leaks and we know the seal is designed to allow air to seap out so it most probaly lets it in as well and will let water in.

All said and done, use GOOD seals like they said not cheap single lip if possible, I agree Buddy Bearings do leak through the hub (my example was not promoting them mearly an example of a positive grease type hub) and do not keep putting in grease to the point of pushing it all past the seals. He's right brakes don't work good with grease on them!
