New brakes
 

Trailer brakes have been on my To Do List for 2 years but the new system is now installed. I have a 30-32' 3 axle aluminum trailer rated at 10,500 lbs. It has been a good trailer but it came with two axle drum brakes and surge brakes...ok but never great.
We converted to the Kodiak Silver Cadmium disc brakes on 3 axles with a new MC w/ reversing solenoid.
Wow, what a difference. It feels like the boat and trailer may have improved the stopping power of the truck w/o the boat!
We changed most of the hard brake lines, all the flex hoses, and all the fittings. We also put speedy sleeves on the axles. The total cost was $1100-1200. We bought most of the parts on-line from the Trailer Parts Superstore. The new brake package coupled with last years new Goodyear Marathon tires and we are good to go.

What are speedy sleeves?

Speedy Sleeves are actually a TM name, there are also generic sleeves. They go on the raised surface behind the rear bearing. This is the surface the grease/oil seals ride on...they wear in time. Instead of replacing the whole axle, this thin sleeves fits tight on top of the worn surface. This returns to worn surface to 100%. The seals can now keep the grease in the hub and the water stays out.
