It probably came out of the Norwood {Cincinnati} plant in the winter and got salt on it then...They drove them down the street for loading(Some of them had quite a ride}. That would explain the rust.

I,m not really into T/As but...I thought the 6.5was the 400 Pont motor and the 6.6 was the Olds 403 ?

I wasnt alive when this car was made...but I know how rare it is and what makes it worth as much as a new "hot rod" that theyve made 40,000 copies of and you see 3 more like yours on a friday night. Its not something you buy to race anyone or anything. Its something you either drive to shows or let sit in your garage with 12 miles on it as the previous owners did.

Nice find...I wish I had the cash, Id buy it for sure. Although, Im not sure if I would let it sit...it would taunt me just sitting in the garage.

What are you getting at??? So friggin what. And a $19K VW GTI could out handle your Mustang. Big deal.

Dude's not here bragging about performance. He's sharing a 30 year old, low-production car with 12 miles. Which is damn cool.

I like it! I like the screaming chicken on the hood too. I had a '77. Handled better than I expected (I didn't expect much). For its day it was awsome. Doesn't hang with my Z06, but is just as cool in my book.

It will hang with most its got a 468 with a Richmond 5 speed OD making 517 HP at the rear wheels at 160 mph it gets a little loose. I added hydroboost brake system and she stops on a dime.

Kinda weird to have been a museum car to have the WHOLE exhaust rotted out(I could understand the moisture/muffler thing) not to mention the rusty leaf springs and the water stained window sticker..

In 75 I had a true S/D 455 T/A,,it was alot of car,,,for its time, I took the bird off the hood and had a local striper hand paint/stripe the bird and all of the T/A emblems. (white car/black interior and blue lettering/bird)

You guys almost sound like you think the car sat in a salt bath outside. I have bought and sold many collector cars and this one is an all original piece of history and the real deal. As good as it gets. Many suspension pieces were bare metal or lightly painted and would rust almost instantly. Bare metal rusts in days without some kind of coating. IT WAS 1979!!!! Cars rusted out in five years of driving them in the Midwest. Exhaust systems lasted only a few years. To drive this car would be impossible and a real shame. All the oil seals are likely shot and will leak. Vaccuum hoses are cracking, etc. It is a muesum piece even with the light rust. The window sticker probably was caused in transit from leaking T-tops. They all leaked back then.
