I've had 3 Duramaxes and none have had to go to the dealer for anything to do with the engine or drivetrain. Just oil changes and filters. Great trucks.

I did get the first call from the service writer at the dealership on Friday telling me that the truck was donne and ready to be picked up. They have test driven it (29 miles), and it seems to be running fine. I picked it up today and drove it about 20 miles home. The truck ran fine, and looking under the hood it does appear to be a complete new engine and radiator. I would think that after being down for a month and knowing how pissed off I am they could have at least washed the truck. Not only did they not even wash it, look at the pictures of the interior. I'm glad I keep rubber mats on top of the carpeted mats. Hopefully all the grease will come off the steering wheel, dooor panels, and grab handel.

Now to keep you updated on my progress with Gail,
my customer resolution specialist. Our last conversation was 11 days ago. I had asked Gail to look into a couple of things for me and get back to me as soon as she could.

1. Matt or McRaymond3 from the board informed me of a program for customers such as myself in which Ford will make their monthly payment as some sort of compensation for the truck being down so long. Gail informed me that there is such a program and that it is on a case by case basis. I asked her to submit my case and get back to me with Ford's decision. Like I said, that was 11 days ago.

2. I asked Gail if this fourth radiator was a diffrent design or diffrent manufacturer than radiator one two or three, reminding her of our conversation at radiator number three that she informed me was a diffrent design and that I would be having no more problems. again it has been 11 days and still no response.
Chuck, any new discoveries with Gail...she had more than enough time to get back with you. Hopefully no other problems with the new motor.

The truck has ben running great so far. Gail has never contacted me since our last conversation and I never received any calls from anyone at Ford or from my servicing dealer about compensation for the 27 days the truck was out of service.

As far as where my case stands with the BBB(Better Business Bureau Autoline Program) I still am kind of confused. Here is a rundown of what has happened since I got the truck back:

Autoline contacted me and informed me that an F-450 does not qualify for their program and they can't help me. the GVW exceeds their arbitration limits. They did inform me that I could still pursue a lemon law case through the court system if I choose.

A couple of days later BBB called me and informed me that Ford would like to know if I would like to meet with an engineer to discuss my concerns and inspect the vehicle. I said that I would love that opportunity and have been asking for that since radiator number three. BBB said they would arrange it and get back to me with the date and time. Well BBB called me back and informed me that I can drop the vehicle off at the servicing dealer for the engineer to inspect it and that the engineer does not meet with customers or have any interaction with customers. The engineer will relay his findings to the dealers service manager and he would relay the findings to me. I informed them that I was not interested in this at all, and will pursue other avenues. The BBB called me several days later to see if I had reconsidered and would like to have the truck inspected. I declined and thanked them for their efforts. I informed them that I did have one question though, why was the amount of downtime never considered as justification for a lemon law case???? The representative then said " you know your right". So I am waiting for the date and time of my independent arbitration case against Ford Motor Company. I was told it would be the first week of September, but upon follow up today (on my part), it will more than likely be in mid Sept. I did run into the sales manager from the selling dealer and informed him of the pending case, and he told me "he already knew, and his service manager said I'm more than likely gonna win". What that means who knows??? Will they buy it back for the full amount, will they buy it back for an agreed figure, or will I get a 2010 and be the guinea pig for a new motor again??? Whatever the outcome, (unless I lose) will be better than keeping this truck and never know if it will make the tow to my destination or home.

Sorry it took so long for the update.

Chuck you and I joined OSO at almost the same time. I hate to see you going through this. Will you take a 2010 if it comes to that?

.
I think I recall you being in the car business but anyway I will tell you what the program is in FL. I have lemon lawed 4 cars in 8 years. Coincidentally they were ALL my wife's cars and the ones I owned were all perfect.

FL program for LL is no commercial vehicles, no HD vehicles (F450 included) and is good for 1st owners only in the first 24 months/ 24K miles of issues. If the vehicle has been in for service for excess of 30 days OR 3 times for the same issue it is covered.

My cars were all slam dunks, the last two the manufacturer took back without even filing the official paperwork:
00- Audi A6- massive repaint/bondo issues on a new car
01- Audi A6- oil leaks, 45 days out of service, 3 X for same issue
03 Mercedes E500- 38 days of of service, multiple electronic issues
07 Mercedes GL- 2 roadside breakdowns in 30 days, car out of service 48 days in the first 60 days of ownership. They took car, gave me a new loaner and I never saw the original car again. Replaced it with another GL, went 48K miles in 23 months- ONE issue/ broken cup holder, my wife's fault.......

I would prefer my money back, but like I said, anything would be better than this truck. I hope.....
