I work for a Ford store and we do a ton of diesel work. Our service manager is and was one of the best diesel techs in the area as is our other tech that took his place when he moved to manager. And my point is, I think it may be less the engine or truck as it could be bad diagnoses from the service depts. We have had radiator issues but there has been a TSB on them for some time now and it is not the engine or radiator that is the problem, there is or was a backpressure issue that once found was fixed, and the TSB takes care of all that were produced in that time frame. In all honesty that is theonly major issue we have seen, the EGR has come up a couple times but only from those who have put tuners on their trucks and run them HARD. The exhaust temps get so high that it can melt some parts from what I have heard.
Now for whats coming! There is a new engine due out a 6.7 made by Ford. It is going to be the way to go starting next year. Seriously the engineers at Ford have listened and have a response.

The news is that I lost. I knew going into this that legally I didn't meet the criteria in NY state to classify the truck as a lemon, but the arbitrators do have discretionary power so I thought, give it a try. I can appeal the decision but at this point I think I may just sell the truck at the auction and lick my wounds. I really don't know what to buy, but I have until spring to figure it out. Thanks for all of the support from Macraymond and well wishes from all who read or participated in this thread.
P.S. Anyone want 2008 F-450 with a brand new motor??? Motor has 95000 worth of warranty and the rest of the drvetrain has 40,000 more miles of warranty.

Why dont you appeal on this merit.. With Lawyer in hand.. Find out what you would get as a trade in number.. example: my 08 F350 dually, the dealership whom Im close with is giving me 36k for trade in or buy out right. I then get a vehicle at invoice in addition to rebates or deals presently going on. Find out what you can get from your dealer.. probably around 38-39k. Use this or their number as a basis as a trade in figure on the new 6.7 coming out that you will get at invoice. Apply your trade to utilize the tax savings and see if they will go a step further in giving you a plan A. This way they dont have to spend any more $ on legal fees.. your back in a new vehicle that doesn't leave a sh#tty taste in your mouth, and a new Ford truck with a new owner is happy once again.. Just my take on it. I wish good luck . Jeff

I would be hard pressed to buy back into a new truck from the same company that could have cared less about my problems, fought me tooth and nail in arbitration and ultimately won and smiled as they left. I don't care which of the companies it was, I would look elsewhere before going right back to them especially under the circumstances that Chuck went through.
Amazing what some companies claim is customer service.....
I recently bought some Firestone air shocks for my truck, they are 13 months old and the other day I noticed one of them would not hold air pressure. I determined it was a leaky shock so I called Firestone, they asked who I was, where I bought it from, faxed paperwork, customer service called me back and told me a new replacement was being sent no charge, with a call tag to return the defective shock. Took me all of about 5 minutes of my time to resolve. Now that is customer service!!.
