Anyone tow with a 6.0 Suburban 2500?
And if so, how is it?

I have an 03 with the 3.73 gears. Towed our 8,000lbs (plus fuel/trailer) 31 ft Formula fine but that was the max. When I bought our 382 I quickly needed a bigger truck.

I have an 08 2500 suburban and pull a 35 fountain. It does a nice job but getting it moving from a stop will need a lot of right foot.
I just got back from the Oshkosh Poker run and averaged 9 mpg with the air on the entire way. |
If you are bent on an SUV, get the 2500 Suburban with the 8.1L gas engine. I've towed 12K+ with a 2500 Avalanche with the 8.1L. 12K definitely taxed the 2500 AV, but ~8500 lbs. is not a big deal at all.

I have the same combo...35 fountain and 2008 Suburban 2500 with 3.73 gears, 6 speed transmission. Tows fine.
My understanding is the 6 speed is noticably better than the older 5 speed.
