Painted steel. Not salt water friendly, but I knew this when I purchased the boat. I should have known better because I've been down this road before with a Sleekcraft years back. The Nordic trailer carried the boat well, it just was not suited for my application. They should offer alum or galv for their salt water customers. And yes, it was dangerous. I didn't realize it was that bad until this year when I launched the boat and took a real good look. I was hoping to get my 5th season out of it but that didn't happen. I stopped using the boat until the new trailer was ready. Now I have Aluminum with galv cross members.
