If you have a trailer-able boat and boat in more than a few locations- Get a 4x4 and just deal its downsides.
11K? 2wd - Really? Id like to see that on the algae at low tide.
I hope you have friends close by with a real truck and some towing cables .
IF you are retired in Parker (or similar) and plan on using a ramp 400 yards or less from your house the rest of your life then a 2WD MAY be ok.
Been there done that. It pizzes me off because Id far rather live with a 2wd pickup for a variety of reasons, but I cant deal with depending on luck vs just being equipped for the task.
Let us know what you do an how it works for you.

I've never used it on my truck.
ALSO - I wouldn't ever consider owning a truck without it. It helps resale, is there IF you need it, and there really aren't any downsides.

Same here! I use 4 low in 1st gear and idle up the ramp. If I have it I might as well use it and not strain the engine or trans.

Down here in Arizona, since we bought our Duramax in 2002 its probably been in 4wd less times than you can count on both hands (maybe one).
But several of those times could have been a living hell without 4wd.
Get the 4wd.

4WD all the way. My old boat was 6,500lbs w/o the 1500 lb trailer. We took it to several lakes around N. TX and always had issues with my 2wd truck. I was that guys smoking the tires and looking like an idiot
Now with my 13,500lb boat and trailer, I am so gald to have a diesel and 4wd. I keep it in 2wd to get it out of my back yard, even then the truck stuggles to get the boat moving. GET 4WD!!!
