GM Techs, help

Took mu 2008 Suburban (5.3) on a 250 mile trip yesterday and it ran fine.

Today i pulled out of my driveway and while it starts and idles fine it will not accelerate and almost dies. I had to return at idle speed. When no load is on it it runs nice & smooth.

Any ideas???

Thanks,

A 2008 suburban does not have a fuel filter, its part of the fuel pump assembly in the tank, you need to start by scaning the pcm and see what codes you got stored.

do you have a check engine light on, and if so have you scanned it?

I am going to guess Fuel Pump failure but see if there are any codes. If you get a code for low fuel rail pressure, you are prob in need of a pump.

Thanks everyone. I didn't have the equipment to scan it. Hopefully the warranty will cover it as I had it towed to the dealer.

I will let you know what they find.

Just had a call from the dealer and I am not happy. They say it needs a new fuel pressure module, $305. I am just out of the 36,000 bumber to bumber and surprise surprise it is not coverd under the 100,000 powertrain warranty. To make matters worse ... they have to order it in. I guess I now know what GMs warranty is worth.

Thanks for the replies and for listening to me gripe.

a GM Warranty is worth alot!

A fuel module is covered under your 100k warr on a 2008 Suburban.

have your dealer look under document 1992733,page 23,
labor operation L1200,covered item.:drink:

Thanks, boatnt!!!!!

I will give them this info in the morning!

Padraig 09-29-2009 08:18 AM

I am back from the dealer. I showed them boatnt's info and they claim that that was for the fuel pump not the fuel pressure module. They did not even bother to look it up!

If the pressure module is in fact covered can boatnt or someone send me a link or cut and paste the info?

Thanks,

Here is the latest. First the fuel pressure module was ordered Monday, still not here as of Wednesday night and I have been without my vehicle for three days and likely at least another day!

Dealer is still saying the part is not covered by 100,000 mile powertrain warranty but I went to GM and they have agreed to cover the $305 part but I will have to pay approximately $140 in labor.
