Silicone and wheel bearings?

Do you guys put silicon on the outside of your bearing seal and again at the outer cap/hub surfaces? I just repacked my bearings and the previous guy did, but I've never seen this before. I still had moisture and/or a small amount of water in the grease. Two seasons since they've been packed

The best and easiest thing to do is repack them in the fall. There are 2 reasons for that 1) they have fresh grease( and no water) as they sit over the winter. 2) they are ready to go in the spring which is one less thing to do. Never seen or used silicone
on mine

I havent used silicon either.. But making sure they are always greased adequately is a good thing to do. :) Jamie

i put silicone on the the bearing buddie where it presses on the hub it keeps wheel brg grease from slinging out when the hubs get hot.
