From what i understand by the time you reach enough power to ditch a built allison your not really streetable anymore, let alone able to pull anyting.

Id ditch an allison at 300hp. I guess you didn't read my last post when I said that $1500 in a coverter and valve body will do wonders. My point is that a dodge tranny isn't junk like everyone makes them out to be, and like never enuff said "Dodge transmission has a lot to do with what is behind the steering wheel, and has nothing to do with the truck itself."

the lly,lbz, and lmm are above 300hp from the factory.:lolhit:

Those are some powerful motors from the factory. If this makes it any easier I wouldn't have one period ill stick with my junk dodge trans that will hold anywhere from 200hp-1500hp.

There are some posting here who don't understand that GM Ford and Chrysler build transmissions to match the power of the engines. They will hold up under another 100hp but that's about all. If you run your stock motor with your stock tranny on a chip/tuner setting over that you're asking for trouble.

As for 1500hp I've never heard of a built Dodge tranny that would hold up under that amount of power. Maybe an NV 4500 would...

If you need a stout Dodge automatic you can always buy a Goerend Transmission. I've never heard any complaints about his transmissions and he has superior customer service. They will hold about any horsepower number you have. Their far better than any other on the market including ATS.

I agree, once you get over 100 extra hp you are putting your transmission and turbo in jeopardy. Most of the people I know that have trouble with their transmission don't service it properly or timely, do boosted launches or race stop lite to stop lite, stack chips on top of chips that produce a zillion hp, and then wonder why they have trouble. :eek:

My Dodge being a POS has nothing to do with the guy behind the steering wheel. Same adult driver since new, very little towing and regular maintenance. The only positive about the truck is great fuel economy from the Cummins. The repair bills and downtime have easily negated that though. It is a shame that such a great powerplant is surrounded by such a gigantic POS.

This is with in a couple hundred hp of 1500. But enough about that, i have friends that have all three manufatures diesels and they all have built trans. cause even with a programmer they couldn't handle more than stock power. Every manufacture has some bad trucks, when you produce as many trucks as they do there are will be some bad ones. Im like just about everyone else if it weren't for the cummins i wouldn't have a dodge. If its that big of a pos why do you still have it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiZy0...eature=related

It was leased by a guy who came to work for me, he was way over on the miles and I agreed to be responsible for it as part of the acquisition. It finally came off lease this year and I had to buy it because of the miles. Now I own a rusted out POS with 270,000 miles with a new injector pump, new injectors, new transfer tubes, fresh transmission, fresh transfer case, newer brakes, new u-joints, new tires and a bunch of other newer crap. At this point, I feel like I have to take my chances that it will go another year or more to re-coup some of my expenses. I think it is probably worth less than what I have put into it in the last 6 months.
