Good points, and I agree with them all. The last thing I would do is attempt to haul over the limit. it's not worth the liability risk.
If the semis are inline 6's, it seems to me that there's a reason for that. Now I need to find a 1 ton, or even better, a 3/4 ton that can pull a 353 Formula with fuel and beer legally. Suggestions? |
yes big rigs are I6 and twice the size with alot more gears, if you drive 55 then buy a dodge if you use the truck every day and want to run the left lane buy a v8 they run faster better.

BTW Ford has the rights to the Powerstroke name but I have a sneaking suspicion that most will call it the Scorpion. Much cooler name and the 6.0 and 6.4 folks are probably anxious to put the Powerstroke behind them and move on with this promising new motor...
It's too bad a manual will not be offered. My 1st and 2nd gears are 5.98 and 3.96 which is what you need to get a heavy load moving plus not having to use a gas-guzzling 4.88 like the F350s and F450s have to use for their auto trannies. My gear is the 3.73 and is perfect for the 6 speed Getrag manual. Again, congrats to Ford for 1) going in-house with the new motor and 2) having the cojones to build a clean sheet design. |

A 2500 with the automatic and 3.42 gears would be a much better choice. That truck would run 75 at 1900rpms. Cummins motors are not big revvers so you need the right gearing in the trans and the rear end to make it run without burning lots of fuel. |

My truck is still for sale. I have not had one issue with it in almost 70,000 miles. The Cummins is finally broken in and the mileage has increased. I'm seeing 22-24mpg now. The hitch is rated for 12,500lbs so it should tow that rig with no problems. |
