Bias?

Im noticing a strong bias to support Ford trucks over all others. Any reasons? Why not a Duramax especially with the new class leading ratings for 2011?

Catmando 07-14-2010 09:22 PM

Hey I feel your pain. :D The new Ram trucks were named Motor Trend's 2010 TOTY, yet all these guys can talk about is Ferd Ferd Ferd. :lolhit:

What Powerstroke do you have now? From what I've read, the new 6.7 Scorpion shows great promise.

I posted about it on an LTL forum and let's just say those guys are not big fans of V8 diesels. Almost all of them drive Dodge Ram 3500/4500 trucks.

Jassman 07-15-2010 10:05 AM

the new 6.7 Ford has out ..IS THE REAL DEAL..and they know it needs to be to stay in business.. 16k on a F250 not one problem and goes to N.O. twice a day loaded with 10-11k trailer...which is not a problem for this truck.. the power is excellent and fuel mileage is in the 19's at 70-72mph and 12.9-13.1 towing.....I just ordered a F350 SRW LWB with the 3.55 gears for my personal truck...almost bought the Cummins, but felt the Ford was more polished, better interior as far as comfort of seats, less road noise, less engine rattle, better ergonomics, and power was far superior. I also have a Duramax, but not the new one coming out.. The 08GM has been good, but not the best when towing vs the Ford.and the 6.4 litre Ford also didnt have any problems at 75k miles.....I will wait to see what happens when the new GM truck comes out and give it a fair comparision.. To me they are all good, + and -'s in every truck.. With this new motor, time will tell, but Im am extremely pleased, especially with the mileage and definitely with the power...Jeff

Ford is just the best truck. they are (in my opinion) the toughest. look at service trucks, delivery vans, and ambulances. ford dominates due to their durability. some of the diesels have set some people back a little. but that little bit of bad is all made up for in just having a ford truck

What's the matter twinkle-toes. Your world caving in around you?

Have you found a job yet? Or are you still making your wife work, while you sit around your house in your under-ware.

Is that why you are so bitter and unhappy?

You may not be the biggest scumbag on this site, but you are right up there with him.

C'mon Everett, why don't you tell us how you really feel.

We're all friends here, like a fraternity.

Tell us what's on your mind bunky. We can help.

We're just a keyboard away. It's not good to have all that pent-up anger. Imagine how much happier your wife, your kids will be, if you just let go.

C'mon you can do it.

Ask Scarab98 how happy he is with his BRAND NEW 2011 Ford that had 60 miles on it when he left Indiana heading for Virginia/Jammin' on the James, and had the turbo wastegate go south with about 300 miles on the truck.

It took them 18 hours to go 750 miles, and each Ford dealer they called on the way said "sorry we can't help you, we don't know how to work on the new ones."

VtSteve 07-15-2010 07:15 PM

Probably had that new Ford 6.7 made in Mexico?

Fixxxer22 07-15-2010 07:21 PM

He should have stopped by my dealer... I can fix the 6.7... havent seen any in for service yet.

Sorry about that lol I was a Ford guy for years. I've had two Ford trucks blow head gaskets. One had the old 6.9 idi diesel and the other had the 4.0 V6.

I feel for scarab98 and hope that won't be a common issue with the Scorpion.

Sydwayz 07-15-2010 11:35 PM

I am a Ford truck guy. Correction--an IH/Navistar guy.

I just don't think any of the big boys are doing their homework on new gear nowadays.

The Powerstrokes have had more than their share of problems. Everybody thinks the 7.3 is such a great motor but I've seen at least five major problems dealt with in the diesel magazines. The 2006-7 6.0s seem to have less problems than the 04-05s but they are still better off with less than 100hp upgrades. The 6.4s are very good diesels that can make well over 500hp with very few mods, but Ford had been working on the 6.7 since before their troubles with Navistar so the 6.4 had to go.

However, given enough internal modifications, I believe the 6.4 could be as good a marine engine as the Duramax that Gale Banks has produced.

I have always wanted to see if you could put a 6.0 in a boat. all that endless cold water. you could chip the chit out of it.

any diesel for that matter from a truck would be cool in a boat. you would think you would have to turn a prop the diameter of a trashcan though with all that torque available.

I wouldn't use a 6.0. The 6.4 PS is a better motor, and I bet Navistar has a warehouse full of them now.

The supercharged twin turbo Dmax is being used right now in a Customs boat. 800hp/900tq. I haven't heard about props yet, but it's rated to 5800rpms in a performance application.
