electric over hydraulic with drum brakes

I want to upgrade my trailer with electric over hydraulic brakes,Brakerite makes a kit,
its a triple axle with drum brakes on all axles,I dont want to switch the drums to disc brakes,I just replaced all 6 backing plate kits ,
I just dont like all that banging at stops and take offs.

so heres my question, has anybody done it that has drum brakes, was it worth it?or will I just be wasting my money and time?

As long as the shoes are adjusted properly with little take up, just modifying your driving style will eliminate most of the slams and jerks associated with stopping with surge brakes.

I started slowing up a little earlier and applying just enough brake to get the surge to compress and start activating, then applying more truck brake. And on take-off, start off a little slower to pull the actuator out prior to really getting on the throttle.

Now in panic situations there isn't much you can do....just the nature of the beast.

I have seen EOH actuators for drum brakes, it would work fine, drum brakes use less pressure so that is the main difference in the units.
The downside to drum brakes is obviously slightly less braking performance than discs, not very self cleaning, and and standard boat trailer drum brake setups are not self adjusting. The adjusters on car brakes work in reverse, boat trailers with surge brake don't work in reverse to allow you to back the trailer up. So they do away with the self adjusters.
So if you put any miles on a trailer you will need to adjust the brakes pretty frequently unless you could convert it to a self adjusting type brake. Which would be feasible because with no surge coupler backing up in no big deal. I am just not positive of the options out there for self adjusting trailer brakes.
