F150 vs F250 towing..doesnt make sense
looking at these two sites its showing that a crew cab 4wd f150 can tow 3k# less than its big brother...Am i missing something? I always thought the f150 was rated for about 8k#
If im looking to tow a Gladiator (8k#dry) would it make sense to go with a f150 if i dont tow far?

That is too much weight for an F150 of any vintage in my opinion.
8K PLUS:
200 Gals of Fuel - 1300lbs
Aluminum Trailer - 2000lbs (at best)
Other stuff not seen in that dry # - 500 lbs
You're closer to 12k than 8k

I tow my boat with a 2010 F-150 FX-4 with 3.73 gears. Boat/trailer/fuel/gear weigh in around 8K. I would not want to tow much more than I currently am with this truck. No way would I tow a Gladiator.

I also have 2010 F150 FX4 w/ 3.73's, and tow a 2001 Formula 271 (5,500 dry) on an aluminun trailer (1,500). It's just enough.

Thanks to Nissan 1/2 ton tow ratings have gone through the roof in the last 3-4years. I think a new F150 can be had with a 11k+ tow rating, but it still does not compare to towing with a 3/4ton truck. You are right that they are rated very closely, but that is a little misleading when you consider that the chassis on the 3/4ton is capable of a lot higher rating when setup in a 1ton+ confiq, where the 1/2ton is at max for design. It seems that the heavy duty lines are getting into the same battle for ultimate towing capacity like te 1/2ton line did a few years ago.
