Tires, Tires, Tires
The age old question...Trailer rated tires or Light truck? 235/85/16's on flatbed equipment trailer. The "trailer" rated tires keep exploding..3 out of 4 oem's on a big tex have blown in the last few months. I have the same on the boat trailer but no issues there. yet. I want to replace all with Kelleys-made in usa-in a LT......Opinions/

I remember seeing a heavier ply available somewhere, like a G instead of the standard E in that size. Are the tires inflated properly and trailer weight balanced properly? Sometimes a trailer not setup with the correct tongue weight and hitch height can put alot of stress/weight on a particular axle, esp with torsions.

I'm looking at quite a few didd brands right now myself. I have redone every hub on my myco and upgraded to the new airtight pressurized system. I am also going 6 new rims and researching tires. 238-85-16 currently Goodyear HT's, they are pricey, would like to hear if anyone has used the uni-royals or the BFG. when i looked on Kelly website their selection was limited. I'm actually considering going to a 225-75-16 as i really don't think they tires need to be that wide, especially while backing and turning, wider tires put a huge stress on torsion hubs.

I went with the smallest 16 on my 3 axle aluminum trailer. It now does not float. I'm having issues on my equipment trailers. The loading is under the tire rating per wheel. I think perhaps "trailer service only" is a crappier tire??

I have the Good Years, and yes they are pricey. About $ 300.00 per tire. They are rated for 3250 lbs. I have had good luck but change them out every 5 years.

IM little lost on what you guyes need. My dad owns a tire shop been there since I was 12. Anyway I can help let me know. FYI the G tires that were mentioned are steel side walls made for Paper delievery trucks because of all the weight. E-10 ply D- 8 ply C- 6 plys all LT tires. a standard tire is a 4 ply -Mike
