4x4 vans - any input???
 

Getting bored with the F350 and looking at other options. Came across some nice newer E350 vans with diesel 4x4 drivetrain. Have to say vans have typically given me visions of the 70's with airbrushed murals but have seen some nice E350 4x4 customs online.

Look like they'd make a neat tow vehicle (sub 30', single engine raceboat) as well as place to crash during races, weekender Rv/party bus for roadtrips, etc. Plus probably do well in MI winters.

Just curious if anyone has had experience with 'em, especially towing.

Like I said its a rare van that I like but they just seem so damn practical and amazing what a little lift, paint/vinyl can do. Anyone have access to repo/auction vans?

Buddy of mine has had 2 Ford 4x4 vans a V10 then 6.0. They were nice but I like the ride of the Excursion better but they do look cool lifted.

He pulls a 28 foot walk around fishing boat with twin big blocks, on a trip axle trailer, says boat and trailer are 13k-14k lbs. depending on load, looks ok going down the road and he says it does great but I never rode in it when towing. The one thing I dont like is the leg room up front but I am 6'5" 225# so need little more room than most.

I ha a late 70's Ford E250 4x4 with a 460 in it. Towed real good. A van has a wider width than a PU. Almost as wide as a dualy. Gas milage sucked and needed lots of room to turn around but that was a 1978 model. Great in the snow though, nothing stopped it. It had a set of 33's on it. But like anything, there is always a tradeoff. I also liked the manuel hubs as to use low at the ramps without having to use the 4wd.

I would look for an older one with the 7.3. If you buy that one lower it. Vans have a high enough COG as it is w/o jacking it even higher like that. Prime candidate for a blowover.

4x4 van... perfect if u wanna molest children on and/or off-road.... Lmfao. Nahh there pretty sweet for real tho.

I don't know why, but vans have a certain stigma that you just can get rid of.
