The AMG is a whole different animal! They use a floating 2 piece rotor, about $1100 each off the top of my head. Do you still have your 55?

Careful on the AMG "Package." All the S class cars have drilled rotors, but the S600 has the $100 drilled one piece rotor. The S65 AMG is the one with the 2 piece floating rotors. Unless it is a bonafide S65, it will have the one piece rotor from the factory...

S600
I bought a AMG S55 new and it has been one of the best cars I have ever owned. Be careful about the "AMG package" which can just be a spoiler or a wheel package. A true AMG will have just 2 numbers in it's model number following a letter (S63, S65, E55, E63, CL55,etc). If you buy a true AMG, you will enjoy the difference as they are the "hot rod" benz. They handle better, accelerate quicker, and have all kinds of trick little features that most performance boaters would appreciate. An S class of any type is an expensive car to repair, but remember, it is the top of the line. I have had only one major problem with my car and that was the catalyic converters. If I remember correctly, they were $8000 as I could not find an after market shop to do the repair and had to pay dealer cost. I noticed the cost of used AMG's has come way down just like boats and you can get a great deal on a used one. If you look for a S65 of S63, make sure it is a true AMG, as a lot of people will rebadge a S600 or S500 to fool you into thing it is an AMG. An AMG can cost $40 to$50k more when new than a regular S Class, but worth every penny.

The 00-06 S class cars are okay but I wouldn't touch a 600 without a warranty. We do not buy the V12's becuase of the headaches they have. The 430's, 500's and 55's are much better. We have a few CL55's in stock and some older (01-02) S500's with very low miles. If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer them whether you buy a car from us or not. Our website is www.mercedeshowroom.com. Thanks to everyone for the plugs.

Also, keep in mind when looking at AMG's, 2003 saw the introduction of the supercharger to the 55 and twin turbo to the 65. Also, the 600's got the twin turbos in 03. Big hp difference between the 2002's and 2003 and up.
