tow vehicle advice please

i'll be towing a donzi 28zx. on the high side with boat and trailer weight plus fuel and extras i'm lookin at about 8-9k lbs. i towed locally with a f150 and it struggled a bit. i would never attempt a long haul. i wanna stick with ford. recommendations appreciated. thanks.

If the F150 struggled (as I would expect) then you need more truck. The F250 would be plenty for that rig.

So a big v8 gas isn't recommended, diesel is the way to go? Thanks to all i really appreciate the imput.

Unfortunately Ford doesn't make a big V8 gas motor anymore. A 5.4 is hardly Big in my eyes and the V10 is the same motor with 2 more cylinder and drinks fuel like crazy.

It really depends. If you will be doing a lot of long distance driving and towing, the diesel is handsdown the way to go. If you will be mainly driving short distances and won't rack up the miles, I would go with the gasser. The 5.4 is not enough for the F250 in my opinion.

I have a 5.4 F-250 and tow a Formula 292. It's fine if you're only towing it a few miles....say to the ramp and back. However if you're towing for more than 30 miles at a time I would go with a diesel. Just a lot less strain on the engine.... IMO.
