That's the best decision, let the expert go through it. I wouldn't have charged you anything though. ;)

What does the guy do? Does he put the engine on a scanner and stuff? We have a "family mechanic" here that we take the used cars to we want to buy.

Yes, they will scan the computer and check for codes etc, as well as accident and/or repairs, frame damage, etc..
I need to know that I will get what I am paying for since the truck will be shipped 1500 miles.

Is this your first time owning a 6.4L Powerstroke? If so you should go to their forums and read up on the weaknesses. Here's one;

Cat,

This would be my first 6.4 diesel.
I've read the mixed reviews on them, kind of scares me but I do love the look of them though.
I think a DPF delete with a tune and faithfull oil changes would help the odds....and no big extra amounts of boost!!!

No not yet, I'm having a 2010 F350 CC 4x4 inspected today as well, it has 20K on it, all the bells and whistles too.

The F450 needs tires, a steering wheel- the leather is worn to rat crap and the console lid is stained with sweat and dirt....kinda grossed out...lol

Sounds like a company oil field truck.
