Shipped to Europe in a Container

Has anyone ever shipped a V hull in a container to Europe?

I have been looking through a lot of posts and it seems like everyone goes through some really specialized boat transportation company that charges an arm and a leg. I have access to a warehouse and loading dock. Even chassis and transportation. I will load it myself. Just wondering if anyone has ever maybe even moved and used a container for house hold items?

Ive had very little activity from Uship.com.

Thanks,

I work for a freight forwarder and we load shipping containers. There are a few things you need to know. Shipping container are 92 inches wide, you need to get special lumber and then you will need to block and brace the boat from moving.

if you have any other questions let me know and i will try to answer them

Go find a guy named Quent on these boards.

He shipped a 24 Lavey with an Ilmor 710 to Australia, or I should say the guy that bought his boat did.

I beleive the cost is about $2500-3500 just for the container and nothing else. You still need to pay for bracing and loading and all.

The length of the container will depend on the length of the boat. The container length are 20,40, and 45ft, they also make open top containers that you can lower the boat down in the container.

For a company I think I saw an ad in the back of a powerboat.

So you have to actually buy the whole container out right? You can use use the companies?

There was a shipper at the Miami Boat Show this year that had a display of several boats in containers. You might be able to find out thru the website.
