Default F-450 Alcoa wheels not holding air

I don't use my truck that often but the front wheels are always significantly low on air. Is there a sealer that can be added that won't interfere with the sand type of substance used in there to aid with the balance?

I have seen a lot of aluminum wheels corrode around the lip where tire bead seals. Any tire/auto shop should be able to dismount tires and clean them up.

I just had my summer steers put on. I would have hoped that if they had seen corrosion they would have cleaned it up, but.....

I would have them check for leak then. Hell, you might have even picked some nails in them or something.

You still doing Cumberland in Sept.?

Not sure if we are going to make it down or not this year.

If you don't think corrosion is an issue take them to another shop and have them broken down and re mounted. I've seen a lot of tires mounted too dry (especially stiff sidewall comm. tires) and just a little bit of the bead will "eyebrow" or be folded under. Sometimes they won't even leak until you park on them wrong.

many times with just sitting the air inside will go stale, the constant heating and cooling has an effect on it. have them remounted and use nitrogen, it is a bigger molecule and wont leach through the porous rubber as quickly. it you put in anything like tire slime it will bond with the equal and that stuff can actually throw off balance if sitting for a while as it will puddle and coagulate.

Also, don't forget to check those valve cores, I have been having problems with mine loosening up from the vibration going down the road.
