2011 F150 6.2 or 5.0 ltr engine

I am thinking of a new truck. My 2004 F150 has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. It has the 5.4 ltr engine and tows reasonably well if I stay in the 60-65 range which is fine by me most of the time when I'm dragging 6000lbs.

The new options are either a 5.0 or a 6.2 ltr engine. The 5.0 has better fuel mileage (unloaded) than my current 5.4 and the 6.2 has a seductive amount of power but looks like it will drink the gas. If I only towed with it the choice would be obvious, but this is also my daily driver.

Do any of you have any experience with these engines or have any opinions on which one would be the better all around choice? I am not interested in the eco-boost at this point, just a believer in the minimum amount of technology to do a good job.

Thanks,

Dan

5.0 , it get's almost the same mileage as the Eco-Boost, trust me it works so well with the 6 speed. The 6.2 drinks fuel like a mofo. And stock it hauls ass compared to the 5.4.

Very easy to mod too, I know someone with custom exhaust, intake, and 5 Star tune on his 5.0 Crew... the truck straight flies and get's great mileage.

From what I heard the Eco Boost is making closer to 400hp at the fly wheel. At the bottom of the page link is the dyno graph of the 3.5 and 5.0http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2011/04/what-were-testing-this-week-2011-ford-f-150-ecoboost-35-liter-v-6/comments/page/2/

If you can afford the gas, do the 6.2. Or for the price difference, you could allways buy the 5.0 and put a procharger on it; as long as you keep you're foot out of it, it will be very efficient. If you want to be kinda efficient, and easier on the wallet, then do the 5.0. I don't think you can go wrong either way, its just how much do you like having too much power?

Answer: You're on offshore only! Get the 6.2!

All kidding aside, I had the same dilema when buying my Tundra, could've gone with the 4.7 and saved on gas, but I couldn't stand not having the optional power, as I have drag raced all my life. Love the 5.7!

I put an order in for the ecoboost which outperforms the two you are looking at.
