Is it not the same as an F-250 hitch? Interesting it's not listed as a choice here...

If it is, I have this one on my truck, it's a beast.

I replaced mine with a Drawtite. More HD. Only down side is it is approx a couple inches lower over stock.
BTW, the stock hitch is not a class V,
It's a V5.

US1 Fountain is right on. It's not he right hitch to tow a .38 Special if that's what you need. The "V5" is the Ford marketing designation for their Class-III hitch. I have one out back rusting that I took off of my 2000 model year F-350.
I do believe the F-250 hitch will fit the the Excursion.
Also, I tried one of the cushion hitches (cushion drawbar) with my last boat, 7280 lbs. total towed load. I had a Surge Brake setup and I found that the Surge Brake mechanism and the cushion movement of the hitch would fight/work "with" each other and it reduced my braking effectiveness, increasing stopping distance as compared to a solid coupler. I would have to imagine the same with a cushioned reciever setup. I have the cushioned drawbar sitting around somewhere rusting too.

I assume EOH would not make any difference.
BTW Your F350 came with a class III?

And yes, that was some crap from Ford years ago. The hitches were factory issued on quite a few trucks as Class-III, and required a WD setup to match the truck's tow rating. Total BS, and the only way to tell was to read the fine print on the sticker, on the hitch cross member itself. The NAME of the hitch was V5, but it was indeed a Class-III hitch only rated for something like 7000 lbs. as Weight Carrying.

I had a 2000 Excursion 7.3psd. That I towed my 31 Scarab with. When I bought my '38 Scarab, EVERYBODY told me it was dangerous and illegal, so I traded up to a '99 f-350 dually and now have an '08 F-450 and love the way the duallys with longer wheelbaswand heavy duty suspension tow over the excursion. Don't want to preach. Loved my ex and miss it dearly.
