SVT Raptor- Any good?
Anybody have one of these? Any good as a daily driver? I haul about 900 lbs. of cargo in the bed everyday. Can the truck handle that much? Need the crew cab model. I think the motor could use a blower.:coolcowboy:

The Raptor with a supercab only has a 920 lb payload. I think your better of with a 5.0 and a supercab has a 1700 lb payload.

We went and test drove a Raptor earlier this year. They let me drive it off the curb where it was parked, and the suspension didn't mind that. I didn't get any chances to do what it was meant to do, but was somewhat underwhelmed by the motor. I was expecting some serious oomph, but it didn't feel as strong as a regular Hemi Dodge.
I'd say unless you have need for a desert truck with a warranty, get something more utilitarian for a daily driver with a proper bed payload and towing ratings, and go build yourself a long-travel rig with some real horsepower. |

Trucks are awesome provided you don't mind the mileage, though they gained a nice mpg bump for 12' with the 6.2. Very comfy trucks, pry the nicest riding truck around lol. |
The truck is basically a pre-runner that passes DOT. Don't consider one with a 5.4...too much un sprung weight. With the 6.2 it's a toy that's fun. With Roush or Hennessy SC it's very serious and will do what ever. These are not great tow vehicles...the suspension was never designed with that in mind,
They will however eat up some off road real-estate in comfort and style. My cousin is a Texas Ranger and they use Roush SC versions for border patrol. Roush version will hold 100 for hours in 14" deep sand on 35's in 125 deg desert heat....it will burn as much fuel as twin big blocks in a boat!!!:evilb: |
