I had to do the same thing for the last couple years. Our house is only minutes from the ramp and I did it with my xj. Try it and see just do it in 4 wheel low. Mine tried to pull the jeep into the water if I went over 1mph backwards. I latter just bought a truck.
Do like they said buy a cheap truck and leave there.

Good idea. another option is get an old farm tractor and put a htich on it, I have seen that. They can be found for 2-3 grand require less maint, dont have to register or insure, although I assume you dont register the suburban.
