GMC or Chevy gear ratio

I`m looking at getting a new truck to me 2oo7-2oo8 1500. The gear ratio has me a little confused I would like to find a z-71 with 3.73 gears but would a 3.43 be ok. I`ll be towing around 5500-6000lbs only one long trip a year. The boat is docked so in and out only a few times to clean. I would have the 5.3 with factory hitch.

Any thoughts good or bad it will be nice to get rid of the Dodge.

A guy I work with pulls that same weight with 05 5.3L and 3:42. The truck does it but he has burned out 3 rear ends. The higher ratio is strongly advised.

3:73,,,,,,or 4:10 if you can find one,,,, not sure if they did that in a 1500

and on that note,,,,,look for a 2500 to,,,,,alot more truck for the same $$$$ better trans, bigger brakes etc

Yea, a 2500 is also emission exempt, if you have to deal with that there.

I have driven the 2500hd the one I looked at was ok more used than I wanted. My Dodge has the 360 in it and 3.55 gears if I remember right and does ok and I added a trans cooler and oil cooler pretty easy. It`s my daily driver thats why I was going 1500 route, I tow less than 100 miles a year unless we do a week away.

I won`t miss the Dodge:evilb:
